Geothermal System Helps Atlanta Home Win Sustainability Award

May 6, 2015 – Recognizing the best green designs in and around Atlanta, Ga., a recent award included an ultra-modern home that uses a ClimateMaster geothermal heat pump system.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Atlanta Chapter partnered with Green Building & Design magazine to spotlight Atlanta’s best sustainable designs with the first annual Green Awards.

Receiving an Honorable Mention was a ranch-style home that underwent renovations, on the homeowner’s wishes, to open the home to its wooded surroundings while staying true to the home's style and becoming energy-efficient and green.

To become energy efficient, a ClimateMaster geothermal heat pump system was installed in the home. The geothermal loop was installed vertically under the new driveway. The ClimateMaster system will provide heating, cooling, and hot water for the home.

The energy- and cost-saving capabilities of geothermal systems are well documented. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) geothermal systems are, “the most energy-efficient, environmentally clean, and cost-effective space conditioning systems available today.”
