ClimateMaster Announces First Vertical Stack Water-source Heat Pump
with Zero Ozone Depletion HFC-410A Refrigerant!

OKLAHOMA CITY, July 26, 2006 - ClimateMaster announces the availability of the first Vertical Stack water-source heat pump with EarthPure® (HFC-410A) Zero Ozone Depletion refrigerant. Beginning in 2010 U.S. manufacturers may no longer produce air conditioning equipment using refrigerant R-22. HFC-410A is the industry-accepted alternative, although it requires a complete redesign of the refrigeration circuit. ClimateMaster is in the process of converting all product lines to this new environmentally-friendly refrigerant.

Vertical Stack water-source heat pumps consist of two main components, the cabinet and the chassis. The cabinet, which includes the controls and blower, is built into the wall. The chassis, which includes the complete refrigerant circuit, slides into the cabinet. The advantage of a cabinet/chassis configuration is the ease of service and minimal occupant disruption, especially in hotels, schools, assisted living facilities and condos/apartments, where this type of heat pump is popular. With a spare chassis, the original chassis can be replaced in a matter of minutes, and the original chassis can be serviced remotely.

ClimateMaster's new Vertical Stack water-source heat pump is part of the Tranquility series of heat pumps, available in sizes 3/4 ton (2.6 kW) through 3 tons (10.6 kW). The chassis is backwards compatible with ClimateMaster and California Heat Pump (CHP) R-22 Vertical Stack cabinets. Efficiencies are noticeably higher than the R-22 products, and the new units are designed for Ground Loop (Geothermal) or Water Loop (Boiler-Tower) applications.
