Beginning in 2010 U.S. manufacturers may no longer produce air conditioning equipment using refrigerant R-22. HFC-410A is the industry-accepted alternative, although it requires a complete redesign of the refrigeration circuit. ClimateMaster is in the process of converting all product lines to this new environmentally-friendly refrigerant.
ClimateMaster's new Vertical Stack water-source heat pump is part of the Tranquility series of heat pumps, available in sizes 3/4 ton (2.6 kW) through 3 tons (10.6 kW). The chassis is backwards compatible with ClimateMaster and California Heat Pump (CHP) R-22 Vertical Stack cabinets. Efficiencies are noticeably higher than the R-22 products, and the new units are designed for Ground Loop (Geothermal) or Water Loop (Boiler-Tower) applications. ClimateMaster, Inc. manufactures water-source and geothermal heat pumps, which are considered to be the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly type of air conditioning and heating products available on the market today. Headquartered in Oklahoma City, ClimateMaster, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of LSB Industries, Inc. whose common stock is traded over the American Stock Exchange under the symbol LXU.
