One Million Hours Worked with no Lost-Time Accidents
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, January 20, 2004 --ClimateMaster, Inc. of Oklahoma City has received the Oklahoma Department of Labor's commendation for safety in recognition of 1 million hours worked with no lost-time accidents. Labor Commissioner Brenda Reneau Wynn presented the award to ClimateMaster's President Dan Ellis and Environmental Health and Safety Manager Rick Briggs in front of an estimated 300 manufacturing plant employees, administrative staff and distinguished guests.
According to Briggs, an atmosphere of teamwork must be created to achieve a commitment to safety. Briggs implemented various safety-training classes, employee incentives, a hotline, and safety oversight committees to increase safety awareness above and beyond the federal and state requirements.
"Safety is attitude: Every employee working together everyday, ensuring that each employee goes home without injury," said Briggs.
The presentation took place following the annual holiday employees' lunch. Other guests included Janus Hamilton, Commissioner Department of Labor, Diana Jones, Commissioner OSHA Consultation Services, Rick Hensley of the Oklahoma County Commissioners Office, and Michael Littlejohn of Wausau Insurance Group.
A subsidiary of LSB Industries based in Oklahoma City, ClimateMaster leads the world in the manufacturing of geothermal, commercial, industrial, and residential water source heat pumps.
